Head of College Update
As a busy week ends with the sprinkling of snow, I’m sure many people today put on their wellies, scarfs, gloves and winter hats, and enjoyed the pleasures that snow brings. When we are covered under a cloak of snow, I always find our landscapes become visually magical and it brings back memories of building snowmen, snowballing and sledding as child. As an adult, I may get a little frustrated with the inconvenience it brings. However, at some point this weekend, I will put on my walking boots and enjoy the frosty views!
In Greater Manchester, the largest growing age group for EHCPs is 16-19 yrs. In response, GMCA has created a new Post 16 SEND Lead post. This week at the College, we enjoyed a visit and was delighted to welcome Paula Watts (who is new to this post).
New Bridge MAT KS4 and KS5 sites are proud of living the Trust value of delivering meaningful futures for our graduates. For instance, Springboard has a paid employment rate of 65%, whilst Future Finders Employability College is over 90%. When our students graduate into employment we work hard on preparation for adulthood at the earliest opportunity to capacity build agency, confidence and skills. There is always more to do, more to learn, better pathways to develop. Therefore, with the right posts, in the right organisations, we can continue to excel with GMCA
Student Council Update – International Women’s Day
As part of their Student Council roles, Oliver and Vincent have worked together to create a display to commemorate International Women’s Day on the 8th March. They decided that it would be a great idea to show their support for the women who work at College and support them daily.
To complete the task, Oliver and Vincent emailed all the female staff and asked for a photograph of them and a few words to sum themselves up.
With a little help from their TA’s, Oliver and Vincent managed to complete the display in time for Wednesday and created a beautiful display of our strong women.
A massive thank you to New Bridge Enterprise for their lovely gesture and support for independent Women’s day.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend, from Oliver, Vincent and the Student Council.
