Head of College Update

Across England this week, ‘Schools’ Football Week (SFW)’ has taken place. SFW is an ongoing ESFA initiative designed as an opportunity for young people, teams and clubs from across the country to embrace football and the wellbeing benefits it provides to young people and players.

This week at the College, we saw the launch of the College’s first girls football team.

The students played in a small tournament against Redwood School and Samuel Laycock, and finished the tournament joint winners… well done girls!

This week we have a special shout out to Mr Thornton! On Saturday 4th February, Mr Thornton completed a 5k walk for The Christies Charity. Christies held their ‘Night of Neon’ event for the first time since 2019. The night was also very special because it was world cancer day. Hundreds of people joined together walked through the fabulously lit up Media City in Salford, despite the lovely British rain! Congratulations Mr Thornton on completing the 5k walk.

As our students go into an extremely well-earned half-term break, I wish to say a huge thank you to all of our young people for the incredible energy, enthusiasm and dedication they exhibit towards their studies, achieving their learning and personal goals and being a valued member of our College community.

Likewise, I would like to commend all staff for their hard work and dedication throughout this half-term period. Regularly, I take a step back and inhale the College buzz. As I exhale, I feel very proud of all the brilliant learning activities and support that our staff are providing for students and I am equally proud of how well our students respond to these activities.

I feel very privileged in my role as Head of College to see this on a daily basis and I am looking forward to this work continuing after the break in order for us to make further strides towards enabling our students to be the very best that they can be. Whatever you have planned for over the weekend and next week, I’m wishing it brings you good health and well-being and much joy and happiness.

This week, we take pleasure in sharing with you Danny’s first day at Nandos…

Get your ‘popcorn chicken’ ready and enjoy…
