Blog for Future Finders College – 18th March

This week at the College, there has been no sign of our students’ positivity and commitment towards their learning and employability skills development slowing down. During a Dragon’s Den style exercise, the Future Finders students worked in teams to develop business plans for their own companies. Zulaika and Josie created a business plan for a cafe for artists called ‘The Style and Sweet Cafe – beautiful food for people who make beautiful things’. Here is the logo they created, we can’t wait to eat there!

During the same activity, Grace and Danielle worked extremely well together to create a business plan for a company providing online acting tutorials called K&M Acting Online.

We visited Oldham Gallery and here are Grace and Zulaika listening to one of the artists discuss their latest exhibition. Zulaika asked several spontaneous questions to the artist about their work and really engaged in the whole event. Grace fell in love with one painting in particular and said she would love to have a go at recreating it herself… watch this space!

We had a special visitor at the College this week. Jordan came back to visit Future Finders to say a big thank you to the team for helping him to “forge a new path” at Northern Roots. He looked resplendent in his work clothes and reported that he is really enjoying working hard his new position and is learning lots about landscape management, the natural world and the importance of access to outside spaces for both the physical and mental health of the people of Oldham. Well done, Jordan!

A productive and wonderful week here at the College. Whatever your plans are, please do have a lovely weekend.
