Future Finders Blog
It’s been another busy week at the College…
Oldham Library
On Monday, Summer and Zulaika both received praise from the library staff for displaying excellent customer care skills whilst helping members of the public deal with IT issues.
Summer also showed good health and safety knowledge when reporting a spillage on the library floor so staff could clean it up.
Zulaika continued her training on the Reference Desk and has started to book members of the public onto the computers and to provide help with IT issues.
Grace and Nathan worked hard all morning ensuring the Children’s Library was tidy and clean.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, all the students helped clean many of the sections of the library most used by the public, which is an important COVID management task.
Nathan showed excellent customer care skills whilst helping members of the public find the books they wanted.
Reclamation Rooms Café
Josie has been progressing well at the Reclamation Rooms Café this week. She has been preparing salad, peeling and chopping eggs and learning to use her initiative whilst front of house. This includes keeping an eye out for customers leaving and making sure that the tables are cleared and wiped ready for the next customers and making sure all the condiments are filled up and looking neat and tidy.
She is learning to work in a team to ensure the café runs smoothly and getting to know some of the customers who come in regularly for a snack and a chat.
Josie is a very friendly and warm person and so she a valued member of the team and much appreciated member of the café staff with customers.
Hello from the Maths department…
“This is a strange blog to write, as I am at home, awaiting eye surgery. The second half of the Autumn Term is well underway now. As I am to be absent for three weeks, a replacement Maths teacher has been brought in, to ensure continuity of mathematical tuition. Mr Imran Mussawar met the students, with me, on Monday and began teaching in earnest, on Tuesday.
Over the next couple of weeks, he will be working on space and shape. This will cover recognition of shapes to being able to calculate volume and surface area. I will be back in college, in time to write the next blog and keep you informed of all that is going on, in the Maths department. Until then, take care.”
We wish Martin a speedy recovery.
Have a great weekend everyone!
