We have just finished our second week back after half term and credit to the students, they are doing amazing.

We are spending more and more time getting employability ready, completing extra Maths sessions looking at probability and BIDMAS and in English looking at writing letters of complaint and working on presentation skills.

We spent some time looking at Social Media and the use of technology. We watched a few videos on the use of technology and discussed the impact this has on people’s lives.

This week was also Remembrance Day – Future Finders were keen to show their respects, completing their poppy display, observing the 2 minute silence and then reading out the poem ‘In Flanders Field.’

I have mentioned a few times that Future Finders is all about going out to our placements and getting ready for working life. We were lucky enough that we did have a couple of placements at David Lloyd Gym (Middleton) and SCOPE Charity shop (Ashton) that we had been able to use but due to the recent lockdown, we have had to put this on hold temporarily!! But we will be back!!

In the meantime, we have managed to secure a placement that will be accessed by different students within our Employability pathway – Job Coaches will have been in touch with those parents and students to chat to them, but we will bring you more on this next week, with pictures as well!

So next week, to name but a few things, we will be looking at:

  • for some students, starting a new placement
  • CPD training in certain areas of Health and Safety, Basic Food Hygiene
  • Anti-Bullying Week next week, so we will be holding sessions around this
  • Maths
  • English
  • Employability

It’s to be a busy week for Future Finders, so rest up, have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday 😊
