This week has flown by and our students have continued to work hard and ensure that rules and protocols are followed. As we are only a small provision we rely on the teachers from the other sites to support in the delivery of some of the key curriculum areas, however due to COVID this has not happened but the staff team have adapted to this challenge. We have adjusted timetables and ensured that our Future Finders students have had extra Maths and English slotted into their timetables whilst we are static on site.
Our Future Finders Work Placement Co-ordinator, Maria, has all the latest news for us..
We are now in our 3rd week with our Future Finders group and we are all very busy!
We have been working on putting together a CV and learning how best to showcase our unique blend of skills and experience. How to choose the right format for your CV and list your work experience and key skills matched to that in the job description, including your achievements where applicable to help you stand out from the crowd. Alongside this we have been learning how to job search using different agencies and inputting information to enable us to get job alerts in the future.
We have also been watching a really interesting programme called “Write Offs” about a group of adults of different ages with dyslexia and how they studied and overcame their fears and anxieties to improve their reading and writing skills. We all found it very inspirational and realised that building resilience, confidence and coping mechanisms is key to overcoming our educational fears and helping us move forward with our goals.
One of our Future Finders decided we needed some exercise after all this hard work and so he found the “squat challenge” for us on Youtube. This was great fun and it really was a challenge but we got there in the end and most of us managed to keep up until the end of the video.

Can I also welcome you to our brand new app, ‘Parentapps Connect’. We will now use this app as our primary method of communication with you. You will find useful links to our brand-new Future Finders social media page, our website, our weekly blogs, college calendar and ParentPay. Over the next few weeks you will also hear from your child’s teachers who will begin to use the app to update you on your child’s learning and experiences here at college. You can view the Parentapps Guide here and if you have any questions, need any support using the app or you have not yet received your invitation, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us on Monday.
I hope you have a lovely weekend, take care.
