This week we said a fond farewell to our amazing students in their end of year graduation, which was held on Friday afternoon at the Civic Centre. We were joined by Councillor Mushtaq and special guests including directors, trustees and representatives from Oldham Local Authority to celebrate the achievements of our amazing Future Finders students. This was a wonderful opportunity for the students to share their thoughts on the year and for us to demonstrate what they have achieved this year, with many of them moving into paid employment or independent volunteering.
What struck me the most from the afternoon was just how highly the students speak of our staff. It is no surprise, but also lovely to hear our staff being recognised for the incredible work that they do. They have just one year with our students to make a difference, to help them to achieve their goals and to ‘Create Meaningful Futures’. It is a pressured, time limited job and one that they all do so so well! SO once again, on behalf of our students and myself, thank you to our Future Finders team. Anne-Marie, Maria, Colin and Bethany! You do an INCREDIBLE job!
And that brings us to the end of my final blog of the year for Future Finders. This has been our very first year as an independent specialist college and it has been an absolute privilege to work alongside the best team of staff and the most incredible bunch of inspirational students! There have been many highlights for me this year… when Kyra found out she got a job, Chloe’s face when she took off on an aeroplane for the first time, Seb leading us around theme parks in Salou and making us all laugh, and generally seeing our students grow into young adults, ready to take on the world! I am incredibly proud of you all and look forward to hearing about what the future holds for you. Please come back and see us! We will see some of you over the summer but for those that we don’t see, have a great break, thank you for your hard work and dedication this year and the very best of luck for the future!
