What a week! It may be approaching the end of the year for us but things certainly haven’t slowed down! This week we have held transition visits, exams, working interviews and one of our partner schools have had a visit from Ofsted!
On Thursday this week, it was lovely to meet all of next year’s Future Finders students. They joined Anne-Marie, Colin and Bethany for a taster day and had the opportunity to go out and look at some of our placements. They are a brilliant and ambitious bunch and I look forward to seeing how they progress over the next year!
Now over to our job coach Colin for some further updates…
Future Finders this week have had the transition day to support our new students who will be attending in September.
Students arrived at Medtia for 9:00am and sat with staff to talk through what Future Finders is all about before having a tour around Medtia. The students discussed with staff their dreams and aspirations as to what they want to achieve.
The day started with a icebreaker activity that consisted of a Q&A session between peers finding out as much information about them and then delivering back to the group – the main thing that came out of this was that the students enjoyed pizza and crisps, especially cheese and onion!
Before dinner the students had the opportunity to visit some of the placements that they could be attending in September and get a feel for what is to come. Due to the students being extremely inquisitive we never managed to take some pictures as we were too busy answering questions but these will follow in September once they start!!
After dinner the students worked with staff on computers to complete research around what they want to do – this ranged from cafe work to ambulance drivers! Dream big and, if you are going to dream big, DREAM BIGGER!! We’re forever looking for ways to create meaningful futures!
The students also started to complete transition booklets and learner profiles which included general information about them and how we can help them to achieve their goals. They will finish these on the next transition day on 4th July.
For this year’s Future Finders, remember it’s an exam day on Monday at 9:00am – DON’T BE LATE!!! And another reminder to bring in slips for the employer event evening.
Have a great weekend and see you Monday!
This week Sufyaan received our ‘Worker of the Week’ award – congratulations!
As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Springbrook Academy, one of our partner schools in the MAT were visited by Ofsted. I was based at the school for some time over the two days to support my colleagues and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate the students and staff. Ofsted is a stressful time for everyone but they conducted themselves brilliantly and it was a real privilege to be a part of the process and to see what an incredible job the team at Springbrook do every single day! You were truly inspirational and with New Bridge’s Ofsted coming up at any time now, it was great to learn from the best!
Have a fantastic weekend… I am off to sunny Blackpool for the weekend to see possibly the best singer in the world in concert… the one and only Jane McDonald!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Daniel
