Another term coming to an end and another student gets a job!!
I am very excited this week (as I promised in my last blog) to inform you that one of our students, Afsana, gained paid employment this week at the East Crompton St James Childcare Village in Shaw. Afsana has been on placement at the nursery for nearly 6 months and has really proven herself to be a reliable and confident member of the team who is loved by the children and staff alike. We are so thrilled for you Afsana! Congratulations!
Our job coach Hayley has been supporting our students at the RSPCA this term..
This has been the last week of their placement for Fahad and Brittany. This term I have seen Fahad progress through learning the routines of the RSPCA and getting to know what the cats like to do as well as what they need whilst he is with them in the cat pen. Fahad knows to give them more water if needed and if they are not playing with the toys which are in there, he will go to collect some more to see which the cat prefers. Fahad has also been using the skills he picked up at his previous placement at David Lloyd Gym to clean the cat pens of all hair and dust and also wash all the windows of 23 cat pens!!! Brilliant work Fahad!
Brittany has been an amazing asset to the RSPCA, she took to the role really well and with a real love for the animals, it seemed easy for Britt to be able to gauge what the cat wanted from their nurture time with her..
Brittany met her favourite cat ‘Cupid’ and was there to see Cupid move on to their new home.
Britt has also been involved in doing some cleaning duties with the lads..
I look forward to seeing how well Brittany progresses at her next work placement for Future Finders.
I would like to thank all of the staff at the RSPCA for the support and guidance they offer to our students whilst on placement. Our students have had a brilliant term here and have gained some fantastic transferable work skills as well as enjoying the work on placement and meeting all the friendly helpful staff. Thank you again and we hope you all have a fantastic Easter.
Back in college, the students have been working on their personal wellbeing during their Employability session..

When we get back from our Easter break, the pressure slightly increases for us all to ensure that all of our students move on to an appropriate destination. We will be working tirelessly with our students and staff to secure employment or volunteering opportunities for all of our talented young professionals! I look forward to sharing more success stories with you very soon.
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all of our students, families and staff a restful Easter. I am very excited to be flying off to Miami tomorrow with friends for a well deserved rest! We will see you back in college on Tuesday 23rd April.
Next stop Miami!
Daniel
