We are delighted to bring you exciting news of Nicola, one of our former Future Finders students.
Nicola recently attended an interview at the Mencap shop in Bury after she found out about the vacancy when she successfully applied to join a Mencap course in Oldham.
Nicola faced stiff competition as she was up against five other candidates but she proved she was the best one for the job and she is now looking forward to starting her first paid employment in a few weeks!
Congratulations Nicola, we know you will be a real asset to them!!
Nicola joined New Bridge as a Year 7 pupil in 2008 and always worked hard at school, moving to our Bridging the Gap project at the Royal Oldham Hospital when she was in Year 14 where she successfully completed 3 work placements across the year.
After leaving school, Nicola joined our Future Finders supported internship course where she was able to continue building on her skills in the workplace. Nicola has then gone on to volunteering placements with the RSPCA in Oldham and now, of course, her first job at the Mencap charity shop in Bury.
Nicola says she would like to thank everyone at the New Bridge organisation who has helped her over the years and she hopes that her success will be an inspiration to others..
We’re sure that it will be and we hope that Nicola continues to stay in touch and let us know how she is enjoying her new job!!
